In October, Russia occupied the most Ukrainian territory in a year of offensive, Deep State says
In October 2024, the Russian enemy occupied about 490 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory, marking the highest level of occupation since the start of Russia’s offensive. This was reported by Deep State.
“490 sq. km is the largest figure for 2024 and for the duration of the Russian counteroffensive that has been ongoing since October 2023,” the report states.
It is noted that this figure reflects the capabilities of Russia’s military-industrial complex, the level of training of mobilized personnel, the degree of mechanization, the availability of long-range strike capabilities, and most importantly, the rational use of human resources.
Analysts indicate that the Russians are correcting their previous mistakes—whereas “meat grinder units” were once a hallmark of their army, now their regiments and brigades are increasingly spending additional weeks and months training their personnel.
“The area of lost territories is, of course, an important, though not the only parameter for assessing the ‘vitality’ and effectiveness of the military. For example, in October 2022, the enemy attacked Novomykhailivka with four full companies, but now, such an operation would be a very costly undertaking for them,” the analysts write.
On November 5, there were 140 combat clashes on the front, with the heaviest fighting on the Kurakhove axis, where the Defense Forces repelled 56 attacks.
