For the first time in world history, the main forces of strategic aviation – carriers of nuclear weapons -have been destroyed directly at their bases by a coordinated drone strike. This remarkable sabotage operation by the Security Service of Ukraine will go down in all military history textbooks, as this Russian defeat is one of the most costly in terms of consequences and losses, significantly reducing the number of Russia’s strategic nuclear forces.
As of now, according to our sources, 41 strategic and military transport aircraft of the Russian Armed Forces have been hit across four bases. Some of the drones attacked using automatic target guidance, and the results of their strikes will be confirmed with satellite imagery.
A group of SBU agents transported 150 small strike drones and 300 munitions into Russian territory.
116 drones were launched into the air.
The drones were controlled via Russian telecommunications networks using automatic guidance.
Several mobile drone launch points on Russian territory were positioned near Russian strategic aviation bases.
The drones attacked from a short distance during daylight hours, deep in the enemy’s rear. The airbases were protected by substantial air defense forces—surface-to-air missile systems, electronic warfare systems, and on-duty patrols armed with firearms. However, the Russians were expecting nighttime attacks by large, heavy strike drones, which are easily visible in the air, and did not anticipate an attack by small quadcopters during the day.
The attack on the Tu-95 strategic bomber base at Olenya was particularly successful: the drones precisely struck fuel-filled tanks, and a significant number of aircraft were completely destroyed by fire.
An operation of such scale, with such colossal economic and military impact, and carried out at such a high technological level, has no equivalent in the world.
It is especially important that the SBU agents successfully returned to Ukraine. Ukraine suffered no losses.
Consequences:
Such achievements deserve the highest state recognition.
Can the head of the SBU be awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine a second time? Because the results surely warrant it.
The heroes who directly carried out this historic mission and returned victorious have unquestionably earned the nation’s highest honor.
