"Big Construction" is returning. Ukraine has invited Turkish companies to create a network of toll roads, without waiting for peace agreements
Ukraine has handed over dossiers on several infrastructure projects to Turkey, which are planned for implementation in 2025. Tenders for some of these projects will take place as early as April-May.
Representatives from the Turkish Embassy in Ukraine and the State Agency for the Restoration and Development of Infrastructure discussed potential future cooperation. The Ukrainian side stated that the planning of Ukraine’s recovery is ongoing, and tenders for some urgent projects, which will be implemented in 2025, are expected to take place in April and May. This was reported by Türkiye.
Among the top priorities is the renovation of existing customs checkpoints on highways and the construction of a toll highway system that will operate across the country.
The dossiers also include some projects in the energy and energy efficiency sectors, as well as social housing and water supply infrastructure projects.
As reported, on February 18, a meeting took place in Ankara between Presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Following the meeting, Erdoğan stated that Turkish companies are ready to support Ukraine in addressing the damage caused by the war and in the recovery process.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Yulia Svyrydenko, stated that Ukraine aims to increase trade with Turkey to $10 billion per year (currently standing at $6.2 billion).
